Bombshell Spotlight: Lorena!

  • How long have you been attending Bombshell Bootcamp? 3 months
  • Why did you decide to try the camp? I wanted to get in shape before my wedding, but I had trouble motivating myself to go to the gym by myself and I don’t like running. I wanted to try a group atmosphere, where I could be motivated to push myself and also get more of a full-body workout. Originally, I had only planned on going to bootcamp over the summer, but after seeing the results, I want to continue year-round.
  • What is your favorite workout we do at bootcamp? Abs workouts! I like working on my core body strength and love that I am seeing results. I really want a defined 6-pack and I’m getting there!
  • Is there an exercise we do in class that you have a love/hate relationship with? Push-ups. They’re definitely tough, but over the course of 3 months, I have seen myself get better at them.
  • Have you lost weight, gotten faster or stronger and if so – can you tell us about it? In just the 3 months I’ve been attending Bootcamp, I’ve lost a little over 10 lbs and 2 inches. I also feel myself getting stronger and having more stamina than before.
  • What advice do you have for new girls starting camp? The first day is the hardest (I was sore for 3 days after my first session!), but if you keep it up you will see results quickly in terms of being able to push yourself a little more each time. You don’t have to feel like you have to keep up with the veterans, you only have to do better than you did the previous day.
  • What keeps you motivated? At first it was the idea of getting fit for my wedding, but now I’m becoming more focused on being fit and healthy.
  • Would you recommend Bombshell Bootcamp to a friend?  How would you describe the camp to them? Yes, absolutely! The camp is an intense full-body workout. Everyday we do something different, so it doesn’t get boring or repetitive. The trainers and ladies who attend are very supportive and you will find that, because of this atmosphere, you will push yourself a little harder each time.
  • How would you describe the trainers: Cari & Carrie? They are very supportive and know how to motivate you in positive ways. They are quick to learn your name and give a lot of positive reinforcement. And if you can’t do a specific exercise, they are happy to provide a modification.
  • Tell us something fun or interesting about yourself that others at the camp may not know. I can balance a sword on my head! One of my hobbies is belly dancing and I enjoy including sword balancing and veil dancing into my routines. I’m also a PhD candidate in English literature. I specialize in Chicana/o literature and culture. So, I’m a total book worm!
