Bombshell of The Week: Margaret

margaretHow long have you been attending Bombshell Bootcamp?
“April will be my one year anniversary at Bombshell Bootcamp!”

Why did you decide to try the camp?
“I originally decided to try bootcamp to get in shape for a friend’s beach wedding in Mexico.”

What is your favorite workout we do at bootcamp?
“I like HIIT workouts. I really feel like I accomplish a lot on those days.”

Is there an exercise we do at bootcamp that you have a love/hate relationship with?
“I STILL struggle with a pretty simple one, jumping rope!! Something about that hand foot coordination really gets me. (Y’all should see me try to dance! It’s just as pretty.) Sometimes I can knock ’em out, sometimes I struggle all night long not to trip on my own feet. I think my coordination suffers the more exercises we do.”

Have you lost weight, gotten faster or stronger and if so – can you tell us about it?
“I lost about 10 pounds during the first camp and I’ve kept it off for almost a year. I’ve gained a lot of muscle and my resting heart rate is a lot lower which makes me happy because it means I’m more fit and my heart is stronger. I cut about 2 minutes off my mile during the first camp, without doing any outside running, and I can do a lot more push-ups than I could when I started. I definitely feel stronger and leaner, I’m healthier, feel better and look better too.”

What advice do you have for new girls starting camp?
“We ALL thought it was REALLY hard when we started. You’ll be surprised how fast your body can get with the program if you stick with it. Don’t expect weight loss to come from exercise alone, put some thought into what you eat too (remember all the hard work you’ve done!), and you will see results. I didn’t drink alcohol for the first six weeks and that helped jumpstart my weight loss  If you think positively about going to camp and while you are exercising, it will make it a lot easier to make the decision to go everyday and to finish the exercises you are doing. Thinking negatively is a surprisingly effective demotivator.”

What keeps you motivated?
“Making friends at camp, how good I feel after a workout and the results I’ve gotten keep me motivated to keep coming back and keep trying to improve. Also the trainers make a huge difference in motivation and Carrie and Cari are good at it!”

Would you recommend Bombshell Bootcamp to a friend?
“I’ve recommended Bombshell Bootcamp to many friends and gotten a couple to try it. How would you describe the camp to them?  I tell friends that it’s a great workout that is really effective and doesn’t get boring, which is a big thing for me, and I have been able to stick with it for a year. Having other people there really holds you more accountable. I also think it’s important to know that it’s all levels, but still challenging, and Cari and Carrie are really good about offering modifications if you need it.”

How would you describe the trainers: Cari & Carrie?  “I think Cari and Carrie are the best trainers I’ve ever worked with. I have done other bootcamps and also worked with trainers one on one. They are very friendly and knowledgeable. They push you, but also let you know your own limits. The exercises are simple and effective. They do an amazing job at getting to know everyone in the camp, keeping the workouts fun, keeping us motivated and still watching for correct form. They are also really nice people.”

Tell us something fun or interesting about yourself that others at the camp may not know.
“I didn’t really play sports in school, (I know, y’all are surprised because of my awesome coordination!) so I didn’t have any idea how competitive I am until I joined bootcamp. Now it’s a great motivator for me. Also, I’m 31. For some reason that seems to be a surprise to everyone at bootcamp and at my new job, but I’ll take it!”
